what went well:
we work very well as a team and come up with great ideas together.
We are very open people so when it came to asking the lad for a picture of his supreme socks we was able to do it without hesitation to get the work done.
we used our imagination and was able to produce creative pictures to suit the words.
What we could've done to improve:
we could've ventured off around more of the college to get different shots instead of staying round near one spot.
I could've adjusted the lighting and contrast when taking the photo to make it look more professional.
we didn't plan the picture before taking it.

FRAMING:
The trees in my image formed a frame like shape and i used the castle as the main focus.
FILLED FRAME:
i found a bush with rain drops falling off the branches and got a close up
REPETITION:
this is a repeated pattern on a gate
ANGLE/POINT OF VIEW:
This is in which you take a photo looking up at a building from your prospective (your point of view)
Selective Focus:
this is when you can chose to focus on the background or your main object closes to the camera.
CONTRAST:
The degree of black and white, light and dark, the color tones in an image.
Depth Of Field- this is the distance between the nearest and farthest objects appearing in sharp focus.
Curves- like leading lines, curves can add an interest to a photo and help place emphasis on the main subject. here is a photo of the curves on thinning a tap.
Romance
The Longest Ride:
The Last Song:
Dear John:
Things in common in the movie: Someone dies either a close friend or relative. Two strangers that fall in love over the summer. Something bad happens in the relationship. The couples are late teens early 20s. they go on little dates.
What are the differences in the movie: The longest ride and dear john had war related seems but The Last Song doesn't. Dear John and The Last Song were both set on the beach and The Longest Ride was set in the country side. The Longest Ride they planned to have a family but the other two films didn't.
Similarities with the movie covers: They all have small titles with large images of the couples. A scenic background, warm toned. They are quite light images to give a nice calm feeling.
The differences with the covers: Theres not much difference between the covers other then the title arrangements and picture arrangements.
The title shows its a child like movie as it has a fun childish handwritten looking title with a cross eyed face with a tongue out as the 'O' in "DROP". The charactors are swapped round so he is upside down to look crazy while she is looking at him like he's mad, But is she the mad one for having an imaginary friend at the age of 20. Also, there are little images of Fred at the bottom of the cover posing stupidly different ways. You can tell this is an older film because of the clothing they are wearing and hair cuts. The colours and texture used symbol crayon like drawing, squiggle lines across the page they are primary colours. It looks like a children's film but its an adult movie so maybe they wanted to attract children to pick it out for the parents to have a read and see if it is suitable for them, only to realise its not for children and buy it themselves.
The front cover lots fun and child like as it has twisting candy canes all around with chocolate little treats, this will entice children to buy the film. There are 6 characters on the front page but the little boy is standing with an adult so he must be more important then the children around them. The way the title is written looks enchanted and mysterious is some way to make you think who is Charlie? and what happens in the chocolate factory. Johnny Depp has a glaring look considering there is all these children around him so he defiantly has a big roll in the movie. everything very close so your not missing anything because there isn't much in the background to discover.
This looks like a family movie from looking at the happy faces and the bright colours or more aimed for young girls as there is princes and princesses. It looks like a funny movie as there is a snowman who is alive on top of a reindeer. The title has literally been wrote to look Frozen and they have put the title as big as the people. It has an icy village in the background so you know its going to be set in the hills and mountains. It looks like a Christmas movie with the reindeer and snow. Looking at the similarly with the reindeer in the middle and the front two people are stood there very similar. One girl is dressed like a queen and the other is dressed a bit poor looking compared to the other girl, same with the men one is dressed royal and the other is dressed like a peasent.

Name of the movie: Bluetooth
Bluetooth logo big on the front cover either in black or blue. Simple but eye grabbing. Dark, shady
background with a eyes bleeding.
Back cover set out as.... either an iPhone screen or have apps floating around the edges or a copy of the same as the front cover.
Or have a young teenage girl with her eyes bleeding in the middle of the cover black and white with her eyes red and the title red.
Comedy
names to call it:
Back in my day or Fingerless gloves.
White background with the title big at the top and fingerless gloves in the centre. i couldn't come up
with a story for the film so
i just put something that would intrigue the audience and possibly make them laugh and want to buy it because they don't know what it's about so people tend
to want to find out.
I want to have the back ground as a cold place like... New York, Ohio,Aspin etc. to show the audience where it is set.

Comedy summary
I chose this title 'Fingerless gloves' because its like an inside joke in my family and its original, I've never seen this title before so I'm not copying any movie, that i know of anyway. The title is the name of a random object that you would probably never really see on a front cover so it shows a level of creativity. I used a simple design because sometimes that grabs more peoples attention, sometimes saying less is more.
Blurb: This was my first draft for my blurb...'Stop! why read about it when you can just watch. It's a movie about fingerless gloves that should be enough for you people'
but it could come across rude towards the audience but in my opinion it makes them want to watch it because being rude in a comedy movie is funny. So I've come up with another one... 'One child spending the holidays with his family manages to lose his favourite pair of gloves in the Big Apple. Leaving his family behind, he travels in search of his fingerless gloves but is faced with many challenges. It's every parents worst nightmare!'.

Horror summary
I chose a big blue title because Bluetooth is blue so it matches the theme. I also decided on putting a bloody eye in the background with the Bluetooth logo in, to show that the people are seeing things they shouldn't via Bluetooth and killing them inside. when seeing something you shouldn't or that is horrifying people thend to say "it burns" and hold there eyes so I really wanted to capture that in the DVD cover.
My Horror Blurb:
Help every teenager who are loosing their lives one by one. Little do they know using bluetooth can be daring, dangerous even suicidal... but if you use it correctly then it might spare your life.
I chose the title 'bluetooth'
because its simple and just
by reading that one word
you know it's about
phones, technology and
bluetooth. It also has
the 'B' in 'Bluetooth' as the
bluetooth logo so it
catches peoples attention
because they may have
seen the logo before.

Evaluation
What research did you do and how did it help you design your cover?
For my horror DVD cover I had a look through some of the most popular front covers and old ones. Many had either something to do with bleeding eyes, little girls, creepy places like hospitals, hotels etc. So I thought I’d use my eyes and edited it to look edgy. I chose not to use blood or photo-shop blood into the photo to make it a bit different but still managed to make it look like a horror. My DVD is targeted to an older audience 18+.
My cover for my comedy was a bit random but i looked the most recent ones and a lot is happening on the front covers like the main characters, little hints of what’s to come in the movie. Then I looked at old movie covers and they were really simple, sometimes less is more and a comedy should have many funny moments, too much to put onto a front cover. My target audience for the comedy is 15+.
What skills/ techniques did you learn/ improve? How will you use these for future projects?
I know my covers aren't the best, as I didn’t know how to use photo shop, but with a help of a friend I learnt how to change contrast, brightness, sharpness etc. also, cut part of a photo and attach it onto another. This will help me in future products because if i have an idea for a cover I don't have to think about struggling to make it.
How will this project help with your FMP?
This will help with my FMP because if I'm told to create a cover for the documentary I'm making I will know how to plan and produce a cover by making mind maps and taking multiple photos and editing them using Photoshop.
What did you find difficult?
I found taking my own photos a bit challenging as my idea of using fake blood would require someone to help and assist taking the photo and I didn't have anyone to help do that so i settled with taking my own photo and editing the eyes to how i wanted them without having to use any makeup. Also, using Photoshop was challenging, as we’ve never been taught how to use it which would have been very helpful when making the covers. To over come this I had Connor help me as he knows a lot about Photoshop and was able to guide me when I needed help editing my cover.
What went well?
My ideas just came to me I didn't need to really think and plan a lot because i already had my ideas ready to make which helped with time management. For my horror cover I took 2 photos of my eyes and was satisfied straight away with the result. For my comedy I already had a family photo that I had taken. My family and I in the snow. It added to the cover to show the cast.
How did you manage your time?
If i remembered about the assignment earlier I probably would of put a lot more time and effort into making the covers but overall my time management was really good as I finished the tasks one time.
how did you find taking the photos to match your design ideas?
Taking the photos was very easy because it was basic to take, as I didn’t have a difficult idea. I just kept it simple.
How could you improve this project?
I could have done many things like make more time for this project, create a mind map of ideas and maybe create a more challenging DVD cover, like harder photos to take. Spend more time learning about Photoshop to get better.
