L2 Diploma in Creative Media Production and Technology

Assignment 2, task 6:  Evaluation (300 word minimum)

What are your personal thoughts on the quality, style, structure and content of your three media products?  What has worked well?  What could have been improved?

In my video report i didn't need to repeat the questions, the audience already knew what was being answered from only asking once. My visual was high quality because i used natural lighting, good choice of locations for my intro, outro and interviews. I used news titles and images up on the screen for the audience to look at so it wasn't boring and gave them something to look at. The shots of me as a presenter at the start and the end of the report was like a professional BBC report.

My camera level when i was interviewing Leighton and Jess in the radio studio was a bit of a low shot. Also, at the end of the report the wind was masking my voice. I could of went and re-recorded it,got a wind mic or got someone to try and fix the audio because i couldn't.

How well did you work during the research stage?  Did you produce a sufficient amount of research?  Did you choose the right researchmethods?  Did you collect useful information that supported your products?  How could you have conducted your research differently?

The methods i used to do my research were one on one interviews with the students at stratford college. i also, did i POLL on Facebook where they answered a series of questions to help me gather my information.  my secondary research backed up my primary research, i did this by looking on the internet for percentages of people who suffer with anxiety and depression then took the answers from the poll to see my percentages i was able to collect and compare them and it wasn't far off so my research was reliable. i could of conducted my research differently by expanding my range of people and went further out into stratford  to ask a few adults and elderly people.

How well did you work during the pre-production stage?  Was your pre-production documentation as detailed and thorough as it needed to be?  How could you have planned better?

My preproduction was set out well, able to see clearly and  followed structure. Also, had scrips for the visual and audio and shot plans to show how it will be filmed and played out. however, i could of expanded on at lot more and just added extra to make it presentable. I could of planned it better by writing all my ideas down and putting it onto a mind map to show i didn't just decide on the first one i thought of and also add pictures .

How well did you work during the pre-production stage?  Was your pre-production documentation as detailed and thorough as it needed to be?  How could you have planned better?

working during the preproduction stage I tested the audio and video quality to make sure it's up to standard because i don't want to make the same mistake i made on the first video with the audio. to plan it better i could of written a lot down and planned it down to the detail because a lot more went on behind camera, production stage that was probably not mentioned in my preproduction.

How well did you work during production of your final products?  Were you organised and how well did you manage other students who were working with you?  How can you improve your production techniques?  How was your time keeping, punctuality and attendance during this project?

i worked really well during the final production by knowing what equipment i needed and when i needed it. i managed my time really well knowing when i'd have time to go into the town to film. i came into college  on my day off with a few other students. We went into town and they helped me set up the tripod and camera. We took a few takes and would play it back to check the audio or wait for the wind to stop. my attendance during this project was good, also doing work at home such as the preproduction  and working on my six website.
