My Performance throughout the FMP:

 

I'm going to start off by saying this isn't my strongest work at all because I didn't realise how challenging it was going to be to direct a 9 year old to act and speak throughout a whole documentary or at least try to. Therefore, instead of giving up and changing my idea half way through i decided to do the best I could with the audio and visual I had. I had some beautiful scenery shots for cut aways and was able to incorporate them into my documentary with voice overs so it gives the audience something to hear as they watch a cut away.  It was very challenging for me, as filming my family on nice days out was difficult because I didn't want them to fake it or feel uncomfortable. Also, It was difficult to get my little brother to read a script so I came up with an alternative to just record him and have raw emotion with his answers about his parents, It helped a little but not as much as I would have liked.

My thoughts on my final productions (Film and Images):

 

I thought it wasn't what I visioned or had in mind for my documentary as I don't have a professional actor to play a little boy and the voice overs weren't as clear or put the message across well. Other than that I had some professional shots and good editing skills throughout. I added a news report on divorce I know the teachers will say it drags or It's too long to have as archive footage but I wasn't have to cut it in certain places as they wouldn't get the full story and there would be no point in me putting it in the edit. As I was out filming I decided when I took a recording that I would snap a picture of that shot to show my filming stages. My project would of been 10x better if I had access to a computer at home in order to edit and do a lot more research as I was filming my family at home or after college hours therefor when I attended college I wasn't able to film I would just have to do some research and to help me get more filming done I would ask to leave college early to film my little brother when he got home from school.

How did you maintain professionalism throughout this project?

 

When we would take a family outing I would make sure I took my camera everywhere and just pull it out when a natural moment was happening in the family that I thought would be a nice shot for my project. When sitting my little brother down to do voice overs and talk to him I prepared a list of questions ready to ask him and not mess around and get what needs to be done, done.

 

 

 

Strengths: 

 

I maintained professionalism throughout. Good cut away shots at the start when he was looking out the window and the shots of the swings and park help the audience vision.

Clear voice overs and any unnecessary noise was cut to make it clearer.

Hopefully enticed the audience. 

Strong reverent topic. I chose this topic because I recently experienced it and also I noticed that a lot more people go through it and we don't realise. 

My Facts and statistics were correct and used throughout the documentary and I also had 

Good use of time management and planning.

Weaknesses:

 

Not wanting to film because it was difficult to talk about a sensitive topic with a 9 year old considering his parents only separated recently.

 

Adding a news report to the end was just out of place and didn't go with the documentary visually but was relevant to the topic.

 

Could of tried to get more audio of him talking as I had minimal to work with. 

 

It was a sensitive topic so when showing my documentary to my family in little stages when i edited to see how they thought it was and to get feedback it made my mum a little emotional and that then made me not want to carry on with the project and I lost interest. 

 

Not being able to edit at home or stay in college longer due to travel reasons.

If you were able to redo this all again what would you differently and why?

I would change my topic if I had doubts about it or struggled at the start to film etc. I would try stay behind in college late as I can to edit and use the facilities. Show more interest like I did at the start of the year and not let my personal problems get in the way or my work.
